Saturday Children’s Art Classes
On select Saturdays throughout the year, the Education Department offers thematic courses for children ages 7 to 12. Each course aligns to the themes in the exhibitions and focuses on history and art. Courses take place during fall, winter and spring sessions.
After-school Art Classes
Throughout the school year, museum artists teach children (ages 7-12) various art techniques and media and learn about the fundamentals of art. Classes are offered once or twice a week (from 3:30-5pm) for a total of 12 to 14 sessions. Classes take place during fall, winter and spring sessions.
The National Museum of Mexican Art’s Education Department offers year-round family days for every exhibition. Families participate in gallery tours and create art together during these fun and engaging sessions. Family Sundays take place from 12 pm to 2 pm.
Adult Art Classes and Workshops
During special exhibitions, the Museum’s Education Department often offers art classes or single art workshops highlighting an art form or artist from the exhibition. These classes are led by experienced in-house educators or guest artists from Mexico and the US. Fees vary by class depending on materials needed.
