MISSION
The National Museum of Mexican Art’s Education Department offers a great variety of quality and meaningful programs that utilize art and exhibitions to expand and increase the appreciation and understanding of Mexican art, history and culture. It develops cultural, bilingual, and arts-based programs and resources for students, teachers, children, families, youth, adults and the community.
Since the Museum's inception by a group of educators in 1987, the Education Department has maintained a strong commitment to education by developing and implementing arts education programs for youth, families, adults, students, and teachers. Today, education continues to be an integral part of the Museum's mission and is central to the mission of stimulating, preserving, and exemplifying the beauty and richness of Mexican art and culture.
VISION
The National Museum of Mexican Art’s Education Department intends to continue to provide easy access, high quality visits and experiences, superb educational materials and guidance to the youth and adults of Chicago and beyond.
By continuing to offer outstanding programs and innovative educational resources, the Education Department is distinguishing itself as a leader in Museum Education in the city of Chicago and the nation. With the goal of fulfilling our mission, our professional staff, supporters, partners and collaborators, will work together to continue, improve and enhance classroom and other museum educational resources for students, educators and parents, and build stronger and meaningful relationships with educators and members of our community. Through our arts education programs, the Education Department will also continue to promote the importance of the arts in education and society. |
