Educator Workshops/Professional Development Mexicanidad Educator Workshops
The Mexicanidad Educator Workshops are developed around some of the central themes in our permanent exhibition, Mexicanidad: Our Past Is Present, which traces the history of Mexican culture. Participating teachers are introduced to the general history of Mexico and then focus on specific topics such as La Familia Mexicana , The Legacy of Corn , and Ancient Indigenous Cultures among others. Teachers also receive curriculum materials and resources to implement in their classrooms and learn ways to integrate the material into other content areas. Workshops are offered on Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm at a nominal cost. CPDU's available
Saturday Educator Workshops
Throughout the year, our Education Department offers several four-hour workshops focused on the themes and works of art of our temporary exhibitions. Our Saturday Educator Workshops offer a great opportunity for teachers to learn about different aspects of Mexican art, history and culture and ways to introduce them to their students. Participating teachers (K-12) receive curriculum materials and resources to implement in their classrooms and integrate them into their regular curriculum. Workshops are offered on Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm at a nominal cost. CPDU's available
Customized Professional Development
Customized workshops are also developed for special groups of educators. The Education Department can tailor workshops for specific grades or age groups and base them on a requested topic or theme revolving around some aspect of Mexican art, history, and culture. Museum staff can work and plan in advance with fellow educators or administrators to address unique goals and objectives. Fees for these workshops vary by group size, session duration, and materials.
