The National Museum of Mexican Art opened its performing arts space—the only venue of its type in Chicago's Mexican community--in June of 1990. Since then, the Museum has staged hundreds of different performing arts events ranging from the traditional to the avant-garde. The Museum showcases Mexican artists from the United States and Mexico through two annual performing arts festivals--in the spring the Del Corazón Mexican Performing Arts Festival, and in the fall the Sor Juana Festival: A Tribute to Mexican Women.
The National Museum of Mexican Art (NMMA) performing arts programming offers literary events, concerts, dance productions, film and video screenings, presentations of performance art and theater, and special educational performances offered to school groups. Museum performing arts events are attended by audiences of all ages from all over the Chicagoland area.
Come and celebrate the vitality, diversity and beauty that exists within the Mexican live arts.
