Performing Arts Philosophy
As part of the National Museum of Mexican Art’s mission to cultivate a deeper appreciation of Mexican culture, the performing arts programming showcases the richness and diversity of music, dance and theater by Mexican artists in the United States and Mexico. The scope of our performing arts initiatives has grown to include the genius of film, literature, and culinary arts. From the traditional and folkloric to the contemporary and avant-garde, the Museum strives to present the all forms of art that exemplifies the beauty and richness of Mexican culture.
Since its inception, the Museum performing arts have been a core part of its programming and in 1994 it initiated two performing arts festivals: Del Corazón and the Sor Juana Festival. Since then the Museum's peforming arts series has grown in scope and size to continue promoting Mexican culture.
