Sor Juana Inés de la Crúz was a 17th century Mexican nun, considered to be the first feminist of the Americas, who wrote the first feminist manifesto defending a woman's right to education. Sor Juana was an intellectual, scholar, celebrated playwright, mathematician and poet, rebel nun and supernova—a woman who defied the role imposed upon women. Sor Juana was a woman of future sensibilities, who continues to be a source of inspiration for women across the world. |
