Radio Arte

Since the mid-90's, Radio Arte has positioned itself as the only radio station in Chicago that has fully embraced the eclectic range of Latin music. Defying the traditional expectations imposed upon Latino culture, Radio Arte gave voice to the emerging sounds of Rock en Español which included ska, electronica, and punk among others.

Highlighting local and international artists, Radio Arte embraced acts such as Ely Guerra, Jaguares, Soda Stereo, Maria Fatal, Pastilla, Ley de Hielo, Los Crudos, La Querida de Cortes, and Los Enemigos de Paquita. Radio Arte will continue to explore the innovation and independence of the Latin Alternative music diaspora, while recognizing the roots of its movement. In addition to this, we are adding more variety to our programming.

Radio Arte's programming will reflect the experience of a multi-layered urban audience. Its music philosophy will embrace regionalism as well as celebrate the fusion of global & Latino influences, as expressed through DJ culture, house, independent hip-hop, Rock en Español, and other alternative genres.

As the only Latino owned, youth-driven, urban community radio station in the country, we want to encourage listeners to become involved in social justice issues and engage in dialogue through community journalism and first voice forums. Radio Arte is committed to redefining radio for an emerging, and underserved audience that sets trends for others to follow.
